There are plenty of movies out there that tackle the essence of the bro. Most of them are either about coming of age romps or pre-wedding jitters. There are a lot of them and, when they are good, they are brilliant. Joshy looks as though it could turn into the latter.
The film revolves around the titular character whose fiancé has just left him With his friends all around, they come together in order to show him that life can still happen after a break-up and, on a holiday that would’ve been their bachelor party – they decide to throw him a party.
The actors here come from a great sitcom era. Adam Pally, Thomas Middleditch, Nick Kroll, Alex Ross Perry, Jenny Slate, and Aubrey Plaza were, or are, in a generation of excellent TV comedy such as Happy Endings, The Mindy Project, Parks and Recreation, Silicon Valley, and more. There is a touch of classic drug and hooker humour but I have faith in the cast and director/writer Jeff Baena.
What do you think?
JOSHY IS OUT LATER THIS YEAR.
