Old school Hollywood seems to be the focus at the moment. The dreamlike world, the nostalgia, and the aspirations all concentrated into moving pictures that both damn and compliment the world of film. With recent Hail, Ceaser capturing an essence of the old fifties style, Woody Allen looks to go back further with Café Society, showing the world of the movies in the 1930s
Reuniting, yet again, Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart (American Ultra and Adventureland,) Café Society revolves around Bobby Dorfman who falls in love whilst in Hollywood as he wishing to make it in the industry. Moving back to New York, he finds himself suckered in to the high society and partying world.
Whilst yet another Woody Allen film can seem exhausting (can’t you just have, like, one year off man?) this certainly seems to be a terrific affair, back on form once more for the director.
What do you think?
