Singers Who Became Actors

There are some creative paths with similar skill sets that can allow crossovers if one was to choose another avenue. Performing as a ballet dancer requires physical endurance and the ability to effectively portray whichever character they’re performing as through the medium of dance. It’s not an easy thing to achieve and you may find you don’t enjoy it. Thankfully some of the skills learnt doing ballet can be used not only in other dance disciplines but in acting too. It’s not too unusual to see actors themselves embark on multiple endeavors outside their acting profession. It’s also not unusual to see singers do the same thing particularly acting. Often it doesn’t work out the way the singer wanted it to: Madonna never cracked a particularly credible acting career after trying for over 20 years.

There are occasions where the crossover from singer to actor does work out. Here are some of the best examples:

With his passing in January of this year and the 40th anniversary of The Man Who Fell To Earth, it’s impossible to do this list without the late and great David Bowie. Going into detail about his music career as if anyone needs telling would be pretty insulting. We all have at least three favourite David Bowie songs that we know back to front. You may not be majorly aware of his acting career. His first notable appearence was in the feature film The Man Who Fell To Earth which won him the Saturn award for Best Actor.
