British Independent Film Awards 2016 – Nominations

After festival season, comes award season where we get to celebrate everything so deliciously brilliant in festival season. Yes, the year never stops for those rotating within the film industry so our joys and glee come from awards ceremony and adorning those who make brilliant films with stunning awards.

The best awards, however, are definitely the independents. More specifically the British Independent Film Awards who have been consistently superb at nominating the incredible, smaller talents that you may have missed this but were, definitely, the best.

There are big contenders for the BIFAs this year. I, Daniel Blake, Couple in a Hole, Under the Shadow, and American Honey all score big with Best British Independent  Film, Best Director, and Acting Awards. Other hot movies nominated include My Feral Heart, Adult Life Skills, and Notes on a Blindness.

That’s great, but we’re truly excited about these nominations. I Am Not A Serial Killer, a 35mm horror film, has accrued some stellar nominations but, most importantly, the young Max Records has been nominated for, what can only be described as, one of the best performances of the year. Hunt for the Wilderpeople has the Best International Feature alongside Moonlight, Mustang, and Manchester-by-the-Sea. Whilst The Hard Stop definitely has to scope up the award for Best Documentary.
