One of the stories from World War II which doesn’t get nearly enough of a mention is that of the women who went to work while the men were fighting, and the fear that was held by the men for the changes it would bring about.
Their Finest shows the sexism held within the film industry as Catrin (played by Gemma Arterton) attempts to write a patriotic screenplay to boost the nation’s flagging spirits and encourage America to join the war. The film looks set to use both comedy and drama to tell the story, as well as throwing in the traditional love story angle to keep everyone fully within their comfort zone for period pieces.
There are plenty of jokes and poignant moments made throughout the trailer and clips, all of them shot wonderfully to try and encompass the tone of the era.
Many critics are calling it one of the best films of the year, we’ll have to wait and see if that holds true when it is released April 21st.
(Spoiler Alert for Clips!)
Their Finest is in cinemas April 21st!
