Ever since Baywatch, David Hasselhoff has been known to make some questionable choices with his career (some people may include Baywatch on that list too.) Other than singing atop the Berlin Wall as it came down, a lot of The Hoff’s appearances have been pitiful self-parodies in an attempt to stay relevant, with Hoff the Record being the most noticeable recent attempt. Sure, he’s had some good films and cameos, but it’s fairly safe to say that his time in the sun has set.
Killing Hasselhoff looks like it could be the final nail in the coffin for this 80s super hunk. The jokes feel hackneyed, the plot is far from original, and whilst Ken Jeong may be quite a bankable character after his stints in Community, The Hangover Trilogy and Dr. Ken, it doesn’t seem like he’s putting too much effort into his role either.
This film will probably do well, if only because the people who watch it will do so to ironically enjoy the plot and celebrity cameos.
Killing Hasselhoff is available from September 18th on Digital Download, and October 2nd on DVD and Blu-Ray.
