Is it just me, or are there an awful lot of films on the Second World War getting released in the near future?
It strikes me as strange because we’re still two and a half years out from the 75th anniversary of the end of the War, and the milestone for the D-Day Landings isn’t for another year, so why do we appear to be so obsessed with World War II at the moment?
Regardless of the reason, it gives many of our greatest actors an opportunity to show off their “serious acting” chops by participating in a historical drama of one of our most studied events in recent history.
Darkest Hour takes a different approach and addresses the Great Briton Winston Churchill’s appointment to Prime Minister after Chamberlain’s resignation and his attempts at boosting morale and defeating the Axis Powers despite overwhelming odds against them.
Darkest Hour will be one of those films that remains with you long after you’ve watched it.
