On the 14th of October this year, we will see another auteur awarded the BFI’s highest accolade, the BFI Fellowship. This year, the recipient of the vaunted commendation is Paul Greengrass, director of The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and the Oscar nominated Captain Phillips.
Greengrass has been in the media industry for over 40 years, starting as a broadcast journalist before moving into filmmaking, since then he has covered iconic moments in history, such as the events leading up to Bloody Sunday in the film of the same name and United 93, which looks at the fateful flights of 9/11. Later this year, he also starts production on Anders Breivik and his attack in Norway in 2011.
Greengrass has also worked tirelessly to make the film industry more diverse and inclusive, and has also created many opportunities for people from all backgrounds to work in both television and films.
