BlacKkKlansman – Brand New Trailer!

The trailer and images for new Spike Lee joint BlackkKlansman are here. The comedy drama, based on the book of the same name, by retired police officer Ron Stallworth.

Stallworth, the first black officer in Colorado Springs, answers an advert for a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. By claiming to hate all but the pure, white, aryne race, he infiltrates their ranks and with the aid of a white officer, for face to face meetings, he goes deeper and deeper into the hate groups secret world.

The trailer includes all the aspects we have come to expect from a Spike Lee film. Deeper issues of race and class are showcased through humour and Lee’s cinematic style. Recreation of the 1970’s setting is complimented by the trailers soundtrack and quick-fire editing make this trailer feel like a classic Spike Lee project.

The film received a standing ovation after it previewed at this years Cannes Film Festival. Alongside Lee behind the camera, the film also has high profiled names attached as stars and producers. Get Out writer/director Jordan Peele produced the film. Starring John David Washington, (yes related to Denzel) Adam Driver, Topher Grace and Laura Harrier.

Could this be the film to reinvigorate Spike Lee’s career? With Chi-Raq failing to make a wide impact and the less said about the Oldboy remake the better.

BlacKkKlansman is out August

Mansfield 66/67- Review

Icons are not made like they used to be. With images of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean forever imprinted in our culture, the fascination with the past is not wearing. One such Icon of the screen was actress, Blonde bombshell and sex symbol Jayne Mansfield.

From her accelerated rise to fame to her tragic early death. Her incredible looks secured her place as an actress, yet it was her public image, personal relationships and media controversies that made her an icon. New documentary Mansfield 66/67 aims to uncover the truth behind the starlet.

Directed by P. David Ebersole and Todd Hughes the film tries to read through the rumour and hearsay to just who Mansfield really was.

The film is in selected cinemas now.

The LEGO Move 2: The Second Part – Brand New Trailer

The first trailer has dropped for the sequel to 2014 smash hit animation The LEGO Movie, aptly named The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

Picking up long after the events of the original film, and taco Tuesday, the characters now live in a post apocalyptic brick world. This new life has hardened them all, all it is accept for Emmet, who is still cheery, naïve and acting awesome. His outlook is contrast to his friends Lucy, Unikitty and LEGO Batman but will this change when a new enemy threatens the gang and their new world?

This time round the film is directed by Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. Original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller return as co-writers and producers. The trailer once again showcases the wit and character that made the first film such a success. The stop-motion LEGO animation looks brilliant and with the return of loved characters and new additions, we’re bricking it, (yeah we went there) waiting for the film to be released.

The film once again stars the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum and Johan Hill. They are joined by newcomers Tiffany Haddish and Stephanie Beatriz as new characters.

Can this new film live up to the original? Can it produce a song as catchy as ‘Everything is Awesome’? And will a LEGO movie ever get nominated for an Academy Award or has someone from WAG secretly pissed them off?

The Lego Movie 2 is out February 2019!

Suspiria – Brand New Trailer!

Like every film fan, there is a lot of disdain here for remakes. Especially of movies that are already considered masterpieces. But Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) can pretty much do anything so we’re excited to see what he does here.

Suspiria revolves around an American dancer who is accepted into a world-renowned school based in Italy. However, she is immediately enthralled into a dangerous world as the studio is not what it seems…

Despite the lack of colour, especially against the original film, the brand new Suspiria film looks amazing. What do you think?

Suspira is out later this year!
