The first Trailer for Alfonso Cuarón Roma is here. His first project since the award winning Gravity, the film centres on Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a domestic worker in 1970’s Mexico. Working for a middle-class family, the film explores the social hierarchy domestic workers must face. As well as the hardships of domestic life, Roma is set against a time of political and social upheaval.
The director, famed for Gravity and Y Tu Mama Tambien, has described Roma as his most personal work to date. Inspired by the women who raised him, the project is a huge jump from his last space epic. Shot in striking black and white, the trailer reveals little about plot detail. The film will get a joint UK release in cinemas and Netflix.
Coming this December, are you excited for Roma?
This looks amazing. “Children of Men” is one of my favorite films, so naturally I’m excited for anything else Curan directs.
