It is that beautiful time of the year again, only a little bit different. That’s right, BFI London Film Festival line-up has been announced but, in these COVID times, it has turned into a hybrid version. That means that there will be online AND cinema premieres.
Opening the festival will be Steve McQueen’s Mangrove. As part of his Small Axe drama anthology, it stars Letitia Wright and revolves around a group of Black activists who clashed with London police during a protest march in 1970!
Closing the festival is Francis Lee’s follow-up to God’s Own Country – Ammonite, which sees Kate Winslet play palaeontologist Mary Anning who has a romantic relationship with Saoirse Ronan’s Charlotte Murchison.
Films will be available to watch for a limited time on BFI Player worldwide. There will be 55 virtual premieres as well as 13 cinema previews. On the list of movies showcased at BFI London Film Festival include Josephine Decker’s Shirley, Miranda July’s Kajillionaire, Riz Ahmed led Mogul Mowgli, Emily Mortimer horror Relic, Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers, Disney Pixar’s Soul, and many, many more as well as a heap of shorts too!
The full list of movies and times is now available on the BFI website. What will you be watching?
